Days of Summer
There’s something special about this time of year. Warm, sunny days watching combines slice through golden wheat fields and thunderstorms rumble across the sky… cool, clear night packed with kids’ softball games, fireworks and crickets singing their lullabies.
This time of year means Fourth of July barbeque, harvest season… and Bluegrass.
Concert goers from all over Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas will soon pour into town to enjoy the strains of guitar, mandolin, banjo and fiddle music that will fill our western Kansas air.
The Pickin’ on the Plains committee has once again done a great job of putting together a stellar musical lineup. >Entertainers include Rhonda Vincent, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, and Darin and Brook Aldridge along with local favorites, Marshall Bailey and the Silver Bullets, The McLemores, Sappa Strings and Larry Booth among others.
And then there’s the cotton candy, carnival rides and livestock and 4-H exhibits of the Thomas County Fair, the parade that kicks it off and the remaining weeks of Picnic in the Park, and we have a pretty full month on tap.
It’s going to be a great July!
