One year and counting…
This month marks an important milestone for me.
It has been twelve months since I first walked into the Chamber office and sat down at this big desk. At the time I remember thinking how difficult it was going to be to step into Brette’s shoes, let alone fill them as the executive director of the Chamber. Have you seen her shoes? She wears some seriously high heels!
Over the course of the next 365 days I faced a ton of firsts… my first Chamber Banquet, first golf tournament, first newsletter column — which shouldn’t be a big deal for a newspaper veteran, but they are RARELY easy for me to write — my first Business After Five, CCC Block Party, Santa City, Chamber Luncheon, and so much more. I have had a lot of fun and learned a ton in the process… like, ALWAYS have someone else proofread the newsletter… seventy Christmas trees take a really long time to decorate, but a college baseball team can put them all away in a matter of minutes… and if you don’t know who to call, call Lottie. She knows everything.
It has also been a year of firsts for the Chamber… our first social media accounts, our trek into making our website more user-friendly, the lead-off downtown Trick or Treat event, our inaugural Morning Perk, and so much more.
I am hoping this next year will be just as ground-breaking for the Chamber. We have a few things in mind that we hope to share in the coming weeks. Things that will add even more value to your membership and give you more tools to help your business grow.
In the meantime, I’m concentrating on making my second time through our annual events even more memorable than the first. Starting off with a lip-sync battle.
