A pretty good day…

As I sat in a golf cart on the eighth hole of Meadow Lake Golf Course last week, I couldn’t help but sit back and relax just a bit. Surrounded by rolling hills, chirping birds, the buzz of an occasional bee and murmuring cows, I got to thinking… This is a pretty good gig.
I get to sit outside and enjoy the Chamber weather, visit with the teams as they play through, read a few chapters of my favorite book… I could get used to this. I even had some time to brainstorm a few ideas and check through my mental Chamber to do list.
Annual banquet… check. Golf tournament… check. Up next… Chamber visits.
I have come to love these visits. I not only get out of the office,  but I get to visit with you one-on-one and get to know you and your business a little better. I learned a lot last year, but there was one thing missing.
Time.
When we dropped in, we had a tendency to miss people, or catch them at a bad time. So this year, I want to try something new. Instead of just popping in unannounced, we’re setting up appointments. That way we can sit down and truly visit about the things that keep you up at night — learn what makes your business tick… what road blocks you’re facing… the new things you have coming up. And we can brainstorm some ways that the Chamber might be able to help.
I’ll send out emails in the coming weeks to get those appointments scheduled. Check your calendars and let me know what works for you. And if you would rather we just pop in, that is fine. We can do that too.
Then pull out your pencil and a paper (or your smart phone) and start making a list of things you want to talk about. And if you’re looking for some inspiration, grab a golf cart and head out to the eighth hole at Meadow Lake. Admire the view… listen to the birds… and brainstorm a few ideas.
I’m telling ya… the cows are good listeners.
